Now sold thanks to the garden I hear, this was a large plot near Amersham & was such a wonderful project to work on. It is a massive transformation from what was a boring football pitch type space to a wonderful garden with year round interest & a flair.
I met with Jane many years ago – I can’t remember how many but it’s more than 15. It was just a few days after she had got the keys & we chatted through lots of ideas to bring the garden to life. We got on really well & have since become friends. I’ve now worked on several gardens for her & she has kindly recommended me to friends & family members which is so kind. Jane is very open minded, we often sit & chat through masses of ideas & designs with a pot of tea & a plate of cakes in her kitchen or on one of her terraces.
It is a country estate of several acres that I designed in many phases over the years. Jane is very sociable so there are lots & lots of places to sit & chat or ponder, quiet places, intimate places, open views & shelter too. These mostly new spaces include woodland, land sculpture used to make uncomfortable levels comfortable & interesting, a beautiful boardwalk above a bog garden, a pond, a cutting garden, tree walk, acer glade & all with seasonal interest & great lighting for evening enjoyment too.
We planted hundreds of trees including two avenues of silver birches which divide the enormous garden & create a great contrast against the woodland & wild flower meadows beyond. It is a very stylish garden for my very creative client who now proudly opened it for charity under the National Gardens Scheme.
