Farewell Diane Keaton

I’ve admired Diane Keaton since forever! I watch her films all the time & never seem to tire of them. The First Wives Club with Bette Midler & Goldie Hawn is a great film. Watch it – it’s fun & the 3 of them singing “You don’t own me” at the end is fabulous. Something’s Gotta Give is a particular favourite that also stars Jack Nicholson & Frances McDormand (who is brilliant in it!). It’s a great story & the setting is gorgeous – a most wonderful beachfront house in The Hamptons which I’ve always envied.

Acting aside, she was such a style icon in both fashion & interiors. One of my favourite coffee table books is The House That Pinterest Built, a book she wrote about her last/final house & how she designed it by being inspired by Pinterest. She was famously interested in architecture & design & has renovated many properties over the years. This last one however really inspired me – our house here in the Cotswolds is full of her ideas.

These are a few of the images from her lovely book. So pared down & simple using only natural materials & often giant retro finds. Her love of big clocks & letters reflects mine, as does her discipline in design – she was also very much “less is more”.

What an entrance!

She collaborated with Hudson Grace, an interiors shop for interior items & dogs. A dog lover like me she produced a super range of very smart dog beds in her favourite black & white. I wanted one for Bruno, our briard but 1. he is enormous so all beds that huge are very expensive, 2. they are only available in the USA so delivery would be a nightmare & finally 3. the last (expensive!) dog bed I bought him ended up with Hattie, my sister’s dog as Bruno hated it on sight. Therefore – bit of a risk! Here’s a few items in their range that Diane designed…

All the designs are lovely & if you want some – here’s the link.

She died a couple of days ago & I’m just sad really. She always seemed so full of life – her films are full of her laughter & I understand she was still collaborating with designers to bring out new collections.

Farewell Diane Keaton, a unique & wonderful person. I’m a huge fan x
